The only good thing about the end of ski season in Zermatt is Zermatt Unplugged.  The annual festival marking the end of ski season will be held this year from April 9 – 13, 2013.  Even though no one particularly enjoys seeing the ski season in Zermatt end – – who would want to with the excellent ski slopes surrounded by the dramatic views of the Matterhorn – – but Zermatt Unplugged is at least a great way to end a fantastic ski season in the Alps.

As always, the music at Zermatt Unplugged leans more toward a relaxed, chilled atmosphere (no pun intended).  Music guests this year include Stadio/Umberto Tozzi, Skunk Anasie, Bryan Ferry, Tom Freund, Brigit Bidder, Marlon Roudette, Sivet Hoyem, Marianne Faithful and Morcheeba with Skye.  In the Tribute Lounge this year, you can share with other fans of Jon Lord, founder of Deep Purple.  Talk to others and enjoy interviews, film clips and other memorabilia daily from noon to midnight in the Mont Cervin Palace.

Do not let the sun go down on your party during Zermatt Unplugged.  Each night you can join the after-show parties in the Club Vernissage and party with DJ sets from DJ JSEBK, the Fantastic DJ Team, DJ Minus 8 and Skin.  Do not forget to purchase your special Festival Pin in support of the New Talent Stages – – it also gets you priority admission to the after-show parties!  You can purchase the Festival Pin at selected partner hotels throughout Zermatt or in Zurich at the Quicksilver Shop Zürich-Viadukt or at the Rüsterei restaurant.

New to Zermatt Unplugged this year is the Farewell Brunch to be held on Sunday, April 14 on the terrace at the Chalet Hotel Schönegg.  You must purchase tickets in advance for the farewell breakfast but this will be a not-to-be-missed new event at the festival.  Weather permitting, the breakfast will be held on the terrace of the hotel with music by the Monotales.  The ticket includes a deluxe breakfast buffet, including a glass of Laurent Perrier Champagne.  Tickets are good for either the 1:00pm to 4:00pm brunch, for those who do not wish to rise early, or for the 9:30am to 12:30pm brunch, for guests who are ready to say farewell and begin their journey home.
