April is the month for the biannual Patrouille des Glaciers. This race is a combination of foot race and a ski race that will cover 53 kilometers of the Swiss Italian border. The race will start in Zermatt and finishes at Verbier. It is an open competition that has lots of civilian and military participants.
International Matterhorn Run Zermatt
This annual race covering a 12.5 kilometers course and is well attended by elite runners. Though it may seem shorter than most marathons, the annual event gives some challenges because of its altitude of 2585 meters above sea level. The next event will be held in August next year.
Zermatt Folklore Festival
The annual festival is held every August. Every year, thousands of musicians, dancers and yodelers flock the street of Bahnhofstrasse as they march their way to perform in the Obere matten fairgrounds.
